The first-generation Mustang continued to bloat again with the introduction of the 1971 model. It was larger than the 1970 model in every dimension except height. One particularly interesting fact about the 1971 Mustang was the lack of “Ford” anywhere on the exterior or interior of the car. Various 351 engines were available as were 2 429 engines, Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet. The Boss 302 and Boss 429 from 1970 were replaced with the Boss 351, denoting the 351 cubin-inch V8 used in it.

A 1971 Mustang Mach 1 was featured in the James Bond film “Diamonds Are Forever.”
