A Pony Package option set introduced for the base Mustang included many upgrades featured on the GT like the upgraded suspension, 17-inch wheels, rear spoiler, and front grill with integrated fog lights.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1966 Shelby GT350H, Ford created the Shelby GT-H. Like the original, the paint was black with gold stripes and was only available for rental at Hertz. The GT-H featured a slightly modified engine good for 325 hp and 330 ft·lbf, improved exhaust and suspension, new wheels, and a hood that included a function air scoop and tie-down pins. Only 500 units were produced.
