In addition to the Shelby GT500 introduced in 2007, another Shelby was introduced in 2008. The GT500KR (KR = “King of the Road”) was an upgraded version of the GT500. The 5.4L supercharged V8 of the GT500 is modified to produce 540 hp, partially thanks to a new hood with functional air intake. The hood also added tie-down pins. The suspension was also completely reworked and is unique to the GT500KR. The sole color is silver with blue stripes. Special 40th anniversary badges for the 2008 GT500KR celebrate the 1968 GT500KR. Only 1000 GT500KRs were produced for 2008.
